Psychotherapy for Relationship & Interpersonal Difficulties

Do the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships? Do you find yourself feeling misunderstood, disconnected, or emotionally guarded? Do relationships feel more draining than supportive, even when you care deeply?

If any of this sounds familiar, you are not alone.

Difficulties in relationships often have roots that go deeper than a single conflict or person. They can be shaped by early experiences, past losses, family dynamics, and ways of protecting oneself that once helped but may now create distance. Over time, these patterns can affect friendships, family relationships, work interactions, and intimate connections.

Common experiences related to relationship and interpersonal difficulties may include:

  • Repeated conflict or misunderstandings

  • Difficulty trusting or feeling emotionally close

  • Fear of abandonment or rejection

  • Feeling responsible for others’ emotions or needs

  • Pulling away, shutting down, or avoiding conflict

  • Feeling unseen, unheard, or misunderstood

Relationship & Interpersonal Therapy at Little River Psychological Services PLLC is offered as individual psychotherapy. The focus is on understanding your experiences, patterns, and emotional responses within relationships. Therapy centers your perspective and inner world, helping you make sense of how you relate to others and how those patterns developed.

At times, and when it feels clinically appropriate, a partner or family member may be invited to participate in a session to support understanding or communication. Even in these moments, the work remains grounded in individual therapy, with your needs, goals, and sense of safety guiding the process.

In therapy, we work together to explore relational patterns with care and curiosity, develop greater emotional awareness, and support more grounded, flexible ways of connecting with others. This is not about assigning blame or fixing relationships quickly. It is about creating space for insight, choice, and meaningful change.

If relationship difficulties are affecting your well-being, we invite you to reach out to schedule a consultation.
